Mid Morning Drive 2

10x20
Oil on Canvas

The Idea of painting whats before you rather than looking for the perfect spot always intrigues me. So much time can be lost when you don't slow down and really look at your immediate surroundings. I can't count how many times I've blown by a great image in my own backyard.
This back road is an example of just that. Time and time again I would drive through this area in a blur missing this composition looking for something better further away. I say slow down and take a hard look.

You're right Mike -- some of the best paintings I never painted were right in my own neighborhood -- I need to learn to quit chasing rainbows for that pot 'o gold, and just set up, shut up & paint!
